The robots are coming!
Turner Construction in the USA is bringing new four-legged colleagues into play: At construction sites in New York City, people can already see Spot in action. Spot is definitely a member of the “robot dog” genus, as can be seen from his long and graceful legs and his ability to crouch on the ground and turn over on his back. Equipped with six cameras and distance sensors, Spot digitally documents construction progress and inspects narrow spaces on construction sites.
All the data gathered by Spot is directly uploaded to the company’s in-house platform. “This makes it easier to track progress and efficiently keep the project’s stakeholders abreast of the current status of the construction work,” says Turner Vice President Jim Barrett. If Spot continues to prove his worth, he will have a great future in the construction industry.
